When I made the decision to cut out processed foods, one of the first items to eliminate was all of the bottled salad dressings. If you have read the ingredient panel, you know exactly where I am going with this. Most ranch dressings contain MSG! Even those little packages that contain dry ingredients and then you add milk, yogurt, mayo or sour cream still contain MSG. Many other commercially sold salad dressings and flavors contain ingredients such as soybean oil, excessive amounts of salt and sugar, natural flavor, sodium benzoate, corn syrup solids, caramel color and preservatives. These are processed ingredients and should be avoided.
I have come up with a healthy Buttermilk Ranch Dressing you can make at home for half the price! Simply add our Dill Seasoning Blend to sour cream or Greek style yogurt. Then add a few fresh ingredients and you have a creamy, delicious and healthy ranch dressing! Serve over fresh salads, use as a dipping sauce for hot wings or serve alongside a vegetable tray. In the weeks to come, I will be focusing on some new recipes for additional salad dressings and flavors that use our products; including some tasty vinaigrettes!
Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
1 C. sour cream or Greek yogurt
1 C. buttermilk
2 green onion, finely minced
1 tsp. lemon juice
½ tsp. black pepper
½ tsp. salt
4 tsp. Zesty Moose Willow of a dillo Dill Seasoning Blend
Place all of the ingredients into a mixing bowl and blend well. For a thinner dressing, simply add more buttermilk to a desired consistency. Place dressing into a jar and refrigerate. Shake well before using.
